  On telling two elders that the elder in my cong.had't yet appologised to me for stealing huge amounts of stuff from my husbands' workshop and being sexually abusive in the workplace and asking what they'd said to him; my reply was..........'we can't make him and that's private'

  Being told I was'nt really raped, as I did'nt scream.

  Being told I could'nt speak at meetings as I was'nt married.

  Being told that girls did'nt need education if they were going to marry.

  Being told that if I wanted to see my(dead) mother again i'd better get back to meetings.(on the day she died)

  Being told the WTBS would make my marriage BETTER.

  Being told I WOULD make it to baptism.

  Tell me what you did on the doors?

  me and my pioneer partner used to play a game while going door to door (we were obviously bored).

  in our rural territory, we had a lot of time between doors to make things up, so various games evolved.

  just about the naughtiest was to give your partner a word which they had to use at all costs in their presentation.. this started out as 'kingdom' and 'jesus' but soon became 'tractor', 'dog' and then even 'honda 250' and so on.

  Hi Ballistic Baby;

  As you know,I NEVER went out on the ministry, could'nt face it-feigned depression instead-but the pubs. used to try and tempt me by telling me they spent the time eating as many mars bars as they could between calls-then trying to swallow them before the next door was answered.

  No wonder the ministry made me feel sick !

  edited to ask...why is this in the dating/relationships/sex bit- what did you think the rest of us were up to ??!!

  i thought i'd hit it several times before...as i have been thru the divorce over the past couple of years...lost all my so-called friends...lost my belief in what i thought was the "truth"....and now my own loving daughter, being the good little dub she is has told me she doesn't want me to walk her down the aisle at her wedding.

  she told me today at lunch.

  i almost threw up.

  Hello Bonezz,our families certainly have the monpoly on causing the most pain,don't they?

  Your daughters' actions are heartbreaking-but at least you can understand why she feels the need to do this.In the future she may look back on her wedding day and regret all this so much-I hope if she does she'll see the way you reacted put her to shame.

  I think the advice to tell her how much this upsets you is fabuolus advice- I needs to be said-to be stated-so do points about Christian principles in a difficult situation-afterall- she wants to be a good one, surely?

  At a wedding in 'my' cong.a woman would'nt even invite people in her famly that wer'nt in the 'truth' , even though they constantly used to tell them how lovely the association of 'brothers' was!!so much hurt was caused there.And I was asked not to invite anyone from the cong. to mine as I was'nt bapsised and they would'nt come as I was, technically, 'bad association'!!! Christian Congregation ,my arse!

  My heart goes out to you Bonezz;let us know what she says..

  when i first came here i was happy to find a place where i could laugh, get pissed off or just speak my mind on a subject.the people i have met here are some of the most,kind,careing,informative,helpfull souls.

  i couldn`t have asked for a better group to be involved with.i do not always agree with my board mates.even with the ones who piss me off,there is still a comradeship(yk comes to mind,lol).finding this board has taught me one important thing.we are not alone,we have each other...outlaw

  Hi OUTLAW,

  Well, finding this site during the UN fiasco was the luckiest break of my life!

  It gave me the balls to stand up and announce that i'd never be back and for what reasons.The information here made me feel confident in fighting my corner when I was accused of being spiritually weak and lacking the proper attitude.

  And it continues to give me somewhere to go when talking to my husband is about as appealing as having my legs sawn off with a rusty penknife by a surgeon who's really an escaped mental patient,after finding out my tetanus jab's out of date.

  Grieving

  it's been about two weeks since i came here.

  i've been having a lot of depression and nightmares concerning my family and the jws.

  ghastly visions of bloody mayhem and mutilation, not only of me, but also my husband and my little dog.

  Tammy;Hopefully, after a while your nightmares will stop; as mine have-i'm sure as LEyes said, it's a traumatic response to the shock of having your belief system wrenched away from you.It's SO important to keep on sharing and posting-especially if ,like me, your husband can't comprehend the misery that you feelings create sometimes.Mine expected me to change immediately back into the person I was pre-WTBS- and is still amazed that I still come here; afterall-it's been 8 months now!

  Perhaps, mentally, it all takes longer than we could ever imagine.And sometimes when I feel compelled to 'sort my self out' when i'm having a bad day;I think it's better to just ride along with those feelings and see where they take us.

  For me it's been a little like a bereavement;perhaps we need time to pass without not really knowing what's going on-just to let our sub-concious get on with it-then maybe later whn we look back,we can see the healing process more clearly.

  i have often asked and tried to research this question, perhaps someone out there has been a member.what i mean is what is the wts?

  how does someone become a member.

  we once had a co who said he could say he represented the wts because he was a member, but we weren't.

  I always wondered why the AGM was sometimes a closed meeting- how could you operate as a trustworthy society if some meetings were closed?

  I was told when questioning that they wer'nt 'closed' as a friend's parents had attended one once-and it was 'interestin'though they wer'nt sure how ...

  The submissivness and treatment of women in the bible and the congregations was one of the reasons I would'nt get baptised.

  I remember a sister once telling me, in answer to my question of why women wer'nt allowed to give talks etc

  'Can you imagine a sister trying to hold a position of authority or give a talk when she has PMS?'

  It left me feeling as though all the women who had ever suffered for others had gone unnoticed by so many of their own sex.

  They seemed to forget that due to women REFUSING to be submissive; they gained their right to choice.

  Women like Betty Friedan,Ida Bell Wells-Barnet,Elizabeth Blackwell,The Grimke sisters, George Elliott and the incredible' Get it right.I'm not a humanitarian.I'm a hell-raiser' Mary Harris;gave all women the hope to dare to be treated equally.Society moves forward because of women like these.And society is all the richer because of many others.

  The bibles' views are not consistant with equality of the sexes- although you could argue that the 'law of love' could technically overrule all the previous mistreatment and permit equality in principle.

  The jury's still out for me-id like to have somekind of faith left- but it's getting harder each day.

  Hello Eman, On a personnal level, i'm on a mission to find what I had before the WTBS confused (and ruined) my life, and to make sure i've dealt with the children's views and problems so thoroughly that they'll not let unfinished questions lead them back when they're older

  .Also, your philosophy to show others how good life can be, is a worthy one and I certainly want ex-jw's to feel they can have an un-conditional friendship with me; either here or in person.

  Generally, i'm not sure if have a mission. I want to expose them for what they really are; but i'm realistic that those that are in are hard to reach. I'll certainly carry on letting my views be known to them ( if only they'd call..!)

  Hopefully the internet will carry everything to the next stage.

  Are you not qualified to speak of morality due to some kind of 'mis-use of petrol hose incident?!)
